John Reganold

John Reganold, right, Regents Professor of Soil Science and Agroecology, measures the effects of alternative and conventional farming systems on agricultural sustainability indicators such as soil health, crop yield and quality, financial performance, environmental quality, and social responsibility. He has successfully conducted sustainability research on approximately 100 farms in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, British Columbia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Dr. Reganold and his teams work to provide answers concerning how alternative systems can be more sustainable than their conventional counterparts. His research has shown that organic, biodynamic, and integrated farming systems are more sustainable, and that their practices can mitigate some of the hazardous effects of conventional agriculture on the environment.
