Renewable Energy-Biofuels
Through its world-renowned plant science programs, WSU works to develop and create renewable and environmentally friendly energy systems. With expertise in biofuels and bioproducts, scholars work on the next generation of fuel/product groups.
The University's newly opened facility, the Bioproducts, Sciences, and Engineering Laboratory (BSEL), at the Tri-Cities campus, cooperating with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, is home to one of Washington’s star researchers in microbiology, Professor Birgitte Ahring. In addition, our expertise in genomics and algae production systems promises hope for next generation fuels.
